Under the generic title El paisatge documental (Documentary Landscape) La Muga Caula wants to highlight the work of action art documentarists in its compilation aspect, as a communicative and pedagogical tool but also as a creative action. This series of exhibitions take place at the Museu de l’Empordà where they were born in 2011 as a result of a long collaboration that began in 2007. If in the action art encounter the protagonists are the performers and poets, in El paisatge documental to which they are integrated, their visibility returns to the public in the form of a series of documents where their action is reinterpreted by the documentarists, who emerge as new protagonists of an autonomous creation: the gaze of the video and the photo.

The action landscape is presented strategically in September, two weeks before the action art encounter as a suggestive invitation to live something similar that will happen shortly and for two more weeks as a space for reflection on the ways of perceiving an action, live and through its photo and videographic reinterpretations.

Denys Blacker (London, 1961) is a visual artist, performer, documentarist and curator established in Catalonia since the 1980s. Collaborator and advisor to La Muga Caula since its first edition, she has authored the poster announcing the 9th encounter. In 2018 Maia Creus, curator of the BÒLIT of Girona, curated the first retrospective exhibition of Denys Blacker’s work.

Josep Pérez (Barcelona, 1970) has been working in audiovisual since 1994 as a producer, screenwriter and film-maker of a dozen short films and three feature films, working both in fiction as in documentary; screenwriter in several TVmovie projects; and director of some television series. Since 2009 he lives in the Empordà where he also works as a journalist.

With Els deixebles de Marcel Duchamp Josep Pérez has obtained the award for the best documentary of the International Festival of Cerdanya 2019 and can currently be seen on the digital platform after having been presented in several national and international festivals.
